Week 4: iPhoto ’09 Lesson

HOMEWORK for 9/13:
Finish correcting all photos (listed above) in iPhoto. You can also use Photoshop if you are privy to it's workings.
Come to class with text that you would like to add to your book. Must include:
bio type intro for yourself and captions for photos.

Week 5: iPhoto ’09 Lesson
Send Instructor your corrected 16 photos via drop box. Must be in folder titled "firstname_lastname_photos"

HOMEWORK due 9/22:
Using iPhoto create a medium sized book. You choose the style.
Size: 8x6 inches, 20 pages (10 sheets)
Price: USD $9.99
Additional pages: USD $0.49 each, 100 max.
Must be at least 20 pages. You must include:
· Intro - your head shot (or med shot) (as full page photo) and bio (as intro text page)
· 5 - 10 images of your art work (or representing your artwork)
· 10 - 20 images of campus life
· 2 different background colors
· 3 different fonts and 5 different text sizes
· 1 map of the route you took from where you lived before coming to IAIA to IAIA
· Exclude the Apple logo
You MUST fill 20 pages of your book with images and text. No pages should be left blank or look unfinished. 90% of images MUST have a caption.
This book is meant to tell a story of where you are in this point and time in your life - in your artwork and at IAIA. It should make sense as a story.

A PDF of your book is 9/22 at the beginning of class. You can create a PDF by control + click on the book in iPhoto and choose "save as PDF" in the pop up menu. Save it to your book folder on your desktop. Name the PDF "firstname_lastname_book" and drop into instructor drop box.
On 9/22 you will also order your book to be printed. In iPhoto you click "order" and follow the directions to order the book. You will turn in your professionally printed book when it arrives.
You must still attend all classes during the lab work time.

If when you go to order your book it says you are missing photos, but you are not. Change the background color on your map page and that should fix it.

Completed = 100 points.
iPhoto ’09 Lesson
Monday, Sept 20
Work on iPhoto Books due 9/22

9/27 - 9/29
Week 6: Keynote Lesson

1. You can name your files just about anything you want. Avoid using shortened naming conventions to name your files. You should be able to immediately recognize what a document is from the file label. Avoid special characters like #@!$%^&*(). These may cause errors in some programs. Use _ or . if you want to separate words.

2. Be Consistant in Your File Naming -
Work to create a file naming standard for both your electronic and paper files and folders. For example, "Financial Plan - Home version 7" or "2006 Sales Proposal - S. Smith."

3. Put all files for one project in a folder with the project name. Include subfolders broken down into file types (photos, video, etc.). Create folders first, so you will not have to reorganize - this could confuse the program you are using to not finding the file again. This will help with working on a project collabortively, moving files, and archiving.
